Brad has worked to cut our taxes, voting to lower Iowa’s income tax rate from 8.98% – the sixth highest in the nation – to 3.8% – the sixth lowest in the nation. Brad knows that allowing families to keep more of their hard-earned income will spur economic growth while maintaining Iowa’s status as the best state to work, live, and raise a family.

Brad has fought to end state taxes on retirement income, helping make retirement more affordable for Iowa seniors.

Brad has led the charge in the Iowa Senate to pass commonsense legislation to safely legalize medical cannabis, providing veterans with PTSD or individuals with autism a safe alternative medical treatment.

Brad voted for the largest public school teacher pay in Iowa history, giving Iowa the fifth highest teacher pay in the entire country.

Brad has been an advocate for improving mental health care in Iowa. He has voted to expand mental health care services to children and increase funding to our mental health system, including working to fund a $12 million investment for Polk County Mental Health Services.

Brad voted to expand affordable childcare access to thousands of additional Iowa families.

Brad has fought to keep Iowans safe by voting to make illegal immigration a crime in Iowa and supporting legislation requiring employer use of E-Verify to stop the hiring of illegal immigrants.
